A season for transforming lives

Christmas at The Royal is a time filled with love, hope and gratitude. It is when families celebrate new beginnings, babies take their first breaths and young girls and women receive the care they need to heal and thrive.

But not every woman or baby will celebrate good health this Christmas. Many will spend the season in hospital, relying on specialist teams and life-saving treatments.

Your generosity will bring a shining light to women’s health this Christmas. By giving brightly, you help ensure every girl, woman and baby can access innovations, advancements and outstanding care – for all women and babies, for better

Your support saves lives

Without The Royal’s high-risk maternity team, Sarah would not be here to spend her first Christmas with her baby boy, Louis

At 32 weeks pregnant, Sarah discovered she had a rare congenital heart condition that could end her life if she went into labour. At 34 weeks, she was induced and gave birth under general anaesthetic in a cardiac theatre, surrounded by a team of 38 specialists from birthing and cardiology. Louis arrived safely, and Sarah survived because of the world-class care at The Royal.

Louis then spent 7 days in The Royal’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Midwives and clinicians kept mother and baby connected across wards, wheeling Sarah in her hospital bed to meet Louis for their first cuddle three days after birth. Five weeks later, Sarah underwent open heart surgery.

Today, both Sarah and Louis are thriving. Their story is only possible because donors like you help fund the expertise, equipment and innovation that save lives every day at The Royal

Why Your Donation Matters

Lives are saved at The Royal because of donations. Your generosity makes specialised care possible.

  • It funds the expertise that saves mothers like Sarah.

  • It provides the specialist equipment that keeps premature and critically ill babies like Louis breathing and growing.

  • In the NICU alone, almost 80 percent of lifesaving equipment exists thanks to donor support.

“The Royal Hospital saved my life, I feel so unbelievably lucky we were under their care. So, I really encourage people to support The Royal in any way they can. They deserve all the support we can give them.”
