OUR MISSION
The Royal Breast Foundation is proudly raising awareness and funds for specialised breast surgical equipment.
A new radiography system will help surgeons ensure small cancers have been removed completely whilst in the operating theatre. This technology allows surgeons to assess tumour margins, reducing the chance of a patient returning to the operating theatre for a second operation.
The Royal Hospital for Women was the first metropolitan hospital in Sydney to trial Magseed technology. A magnetic seed is used to localise small tumours before surgery. This has replaced the invasive hookwire procedure which can be distressing and painful for women undergoing breast surgery.
