Why I'm going for a spin

I've been commuting to and from work for the best part of a decade, revelling in the personal benefits of cycling, if not enamoured with the response my lycra kit evokes from my colleagues.
When I heard about the opportunity to participate in a 24-hour spinathon to raise funds for a most worthy cause, and one that's close to my heart, it was a no-brainer. On 8-9 November, I'll be able to clip in and ride as part of my company's - beIN SPORTS - team, for two hours at a time, putting the years of turning a peddle to much more significant use.
Our hope is that this evet will help raise the $50,000 required for Sydney's Royal Hospital for Women's Newborn Intensive Care Unit. Having had my three children at the RHW and with close friends who's babies have been cared for in the unit, this is a cause close to my heart.
I'm hoping two hours of pain will represent a significant gain for families with premature babies.
