The Ladies Luncheon started as a vision by philanthropists and Sydney hoteliers, Mitchell and Harriet Waugh, who are dedicated to giving back to the community through their hospitality venture PHMG. Inspired by her 4 month stay at the Royal Hospital for Women during the birth of her first child, Harriet Waugh created the Ladies Luncheon as a grassroots fundraising event. Funds raised through the Ladies Luncheon have allowed The Royal Hospital for Women to provide critical equipment and care to mothers and newborns in need of support at the Newborn Intensive Care Centre. Deborah Symond O'Neil joined forces with the Ladies Luncheon in 2019, contributing both her time and influence to the cause. The Ladies Luncheon is regarded as one of the most exclusive charity events in Sydney attended by significant media personalities, donors and high-profile influencers.
This year’s event will be the 6th annual Ladies Luncheon and a milestone occasion. Since its inception, the Ladies Luncheon has made a remarkable difference raising over $2 million to help provide outstanding care for families at The Royal.
2024 Fundraising Target
Highly specialised medical equipment to provide the best care for high-risk pregnancy, and vulnerable premature babies.

Voluson E22 Ultrasound
Advanced imaging technology is essential for early diagnosis and effective management of maternal and fetal conditions. The acquisition of a Voluson E22 ultrasound machine for our Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) department presents a significant opportunity to enhance our diagnostic capabilities and improve our antenatal counselling and patient experience. Approx. $240,000.
Specialised equipment for the Newborn Intensive Care Unit
Approximately 80% of the equipment in the NICU has been philanthropically funded. We prioritise this important area of the hospital to ensure babies have advanced medical equipment and technology to help them survive and thrive. A range of equipment including humidicribs, ventilators and monitoring systems will update ageing equipment in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit to ensure premature and vulnerable babies have state-of-the-art equipment to survive and thrive.
All donations are tax-deductible and will make a life changing difference.
