The April Walk - Kiama Coast Walk

Saturday 25th Mar
For those of you interested in joining in on one of the pre-Everest Base Camp walks, the April walk is going to be the Kiama Coast Walk from Minnamurra Station to Gerringong Station. It is a ~20 km walk and the hills are gentle enough for most fitness levels (unlike the March walk!). 

If you are interested in joining, the plan will be to meet at 8 AM at Minnamurra Station on Sunday 23rd April....and walk from there.

The May Walk - Pierces Pass to Blue Gum Forest

Monday 24th Apr

The May walk is on Saturday, 20th May.


For those of you interested in joining there is a change of plan for the May walk - given there is still an active alert on the Coast Track in the Royal National Park, the plan is to do this walk later in the year and instead do the Pierces Pass to Blue Gum Forest walking track in the Blue Mountains.

 

Distance: 16km return

Time: 6 - 8hrs

Experience required: Experienced bushwalkers

Gradient: Very steep

Steps: Many steps

Quality of path: Rough track, many obstacles

 

The plan is to meet at 8:30 AM at that the end of Pierces Pass Road - https://goo.gl/maps/He3DY6RPpCdfd2A17. To get there from Bells Line Road, turn on to Pierces Pass Road between Mount Wilson Road and Mount Banks Road and continue along Pierces Pass Road to the end.

The 3 June Walk @ Thredbo

For those interested in the 3 June walk @ Thredbo please find below the details.

Date: Saturday 3rd June
Location: Meet in the Lobby of the Thredbo Alpine Hotel, 8 Friday Dr, Thredbo
Time: 8:30 AM

The walk will really depend on the weather, but it will most likely be Dead Horse Gap to Kosci Summit

Distance: ~22 KMs
Time: ~6 ½ hours
Grade: 4

Notes:

• We did one of these Thredbo weekends last November – we drove down to Thredbo on Friday, walked Saturday and drove back on Sunday.
• Accommodation – given it is the weekend before the opening of the ski season, there are still a number of accommodation options available.
• Carpooling – if you are interested in coming and want to carpool, please ping me and we will see what we can arrange.
• Best bit of equipment from the last Thredbo walk – Buff neck gaiter
• It will be cold - the average temperature in Thredbo in June for a typical day ranges from a high of 8°C to a low of 1°C.

The August Walk - Back to Oxford
