This fundraising event attracts men and women who want to make a difference in tackling women’s health. We have one goal: Help our mothers, sisters, daughters and loved ones, giving these and future generations of women and newborns the best chance of prevention and survival at The Royal Hospital for Women.
This year our aim is to establish a Rural & Regional Families Support Program.
One in every five patients at The Royal is from a rural, regional or remote area of NSW. In the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) more than 30% of the premature and critically ill babies are from outside the Sydney Metropolitan area. For a baby born at 24 weeks a family may be in the NICU for four to five months. 65% of patients in Macquarie Ward (gynaecology oncolgy) are from beyond local areas separated from family and friends. We need your help to ease their pain.
The program will ensure that families who require help with accommodation, travel and living expenses can be supported while they focus on their newborn baby or own recovery and treatment.
