Workshop Content

NeoResus program run by the Newborn Services team at RHW is a specialised training program designed to equip healthcare professionals with effective newborn resuscitation skills and the confidence to manage first response and advanced resuscitation.

Our team of expert instructors will train participants to build their evidence-based skills in assessment, intervention and emergency management in a clinical simulation training environment.

This workshop utilises the ANZCOR Neonatal Resuscitation Guidelines.

The program is designed for participants at all levels of experience in newborn resuscitation.

On completion of the program successful participants will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Assessment of a newborn neonate’s transition to extra- uterine life
  • Determining a neonate’s requirement to establish and maintain effective breathing
  • Assisting a neonate to breathe using positive pressure ventilation devices
  • Administering external chest compressions
  • Endotracheal intubation and strapping
  • Establishing vascular access
  • Administration of drugs and volume expanders
