Workshop Content

NeoResus First Response Workshop run by the Newborn Services team at RHW is a specialised training program designed to equip healthcare professionals with effective newborn resuscitation skills and the confidence to manage first response resuscitation.

Our team of expert instructors will train participants to build their evidence-based skills in assessment, intervention and emergency management in a clinical simulation training environment.

This workshop utilises the ANZCOR Neonatal Resuscitation Guidelines.

The program is designed for participants at all levels of experience in newborn resuscitation.

On completion of the program successful participants will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Assessment of a newborn neonate’s transition to extra- uterine life
  • Determining a neonate’s requirement to establish and maintain effective breathing
  • Assisting a neonate to breathe using a variety of positive pressure ventilation devices, including supraglottic airway insertion
  • Administering external chest compressions in cases where initial resuscitation measures fail to restore adequate circulation

Pre- learning requirements
Participants will need to complete NeoResus e-learning module and web-based pre-reading prior to attending the First Response workshop.

Access to the pre-program requirements will be emailed to participants three weeks prior to the scheduled workshop date.
