PASPALEY PEARL SAFARI EXPERIENCE FOR TWO

During this four-night, five-day adventure for two, experience first-hand Paspaley’s quest for the perfect pearl. Your safari begins in the historical pearling port of Broome where you will fly to the Paspaley Pearl Farms onboard a Grumman Mallard seaplane, experiencing the thrill of a water take-off and landing. Experience the action and excitement of harvest season and witness ‘the moment of reveal’, where the Pinctada maxima oyster is opened to reveal a Paspaley pearl.

Enjoy a two-night stay in the rustic Kimberley-inspired accommodation at Kuri Bay – Australia’s first cultured pearl farm. Your safari continues to Darwin where the 2023 harvest will be sorted and graded. Discover the secrets of pearl grading at The Pearl Room and visit the Paspaley master jewellers at our Jewellery Atelier. On the last evening, you will enjoy a farewell dinner hosted by a Paspaley family member set in the beautiful gardens of their Myilly Point homestead.

This prize also includes a $5,000 Paspaley shopping voucher, accommodation in Broome, Kuri Bay, and Darwin, seaplane flights, all transfers, and meals.

LOT 2 DUTCH POPPIES
From the Rebirth series
Artwork by Alina Gozin'a

DUTCH POPPIES
Photograph on brass
Exhibition Size: 900x1300 mm
Edition 2/3 + 2 AP

Alina Gozin’a has spent much of her career between Sydney & New York.

As an artist, Alina creates large-scale photographic, brass & optical illusion artworks. She has had numerous solo exhibitions in both NYC and Sydney and is represented by Wentworth Galleries. Her work explores how events in history can create a ripple effect across time and space, often resulting in irreversible changes for humanity.

As a photographer, Alina has captured notable personalities such as Scott Farquhar, Frank Lowy, Andrew Forrest, Anthony Pratt, Gretel Packer, Judith Neilson, Canva co-founders Melanie and Cliff, Kevin Rudd, Christine Lagarde, and the Oscar winners Alicia Vikander to name a few.

One year in the making, Dutch Poppies is entirely mastered by hand. Following in the tradition of artists such as Rembrandt and Caravaggio, Alina Gozin'a has utilised the chiaroscuro technique, a method that uses shadows and a single light source to create depth and drama in this impressive body of work. Examining countless patina treatments, she applies her flower portraits to brass plates, forging each of the eleven nails that secure the frame, through to the wrapping of the brass around the edges of the frame by hand.

This artwork is so exquisite, it looks like a painting; it evokes a physical and emotional nostalgia for the Renaissance and the great halls of European museums.

Prize Value: $22,000.00
