Nicole was an incredible woman who deeply touched everyone who had the good fortune to know her.
Nicole’s journey at The Royal Hospital for Women began with Bowie's premature birth in 2022. Born at 23 weeks weighing 484 grams, Bowie spent 130 days in the NICU. Nicole and her beautiful partner, Kristy had unwavering hope and resilience and spent every day by Bowie's side in the NICU.
We were moved and inspired by Nicole and Kristy – two of the most loving, strong, devoted partners and parents.
Tragically, not long after settling Bowie into family life at home, Nicole’s journey at The Royal continued in early 2023 with a devastating rare cancer diagnosis. Nicole was treated through the gynaecology oncology department and received chemotherapy at The Royal. With profound sadness, Nicole’s family said goodbye on 11 July 2023.
Nicole Austin will forever be remembered. We will honour the remarkable woman who showed so much strength and courage.
Kristy and family have asked for donations in lieu of flowers. All donations will support The Newborn Intensive Care Unit at The Royal Hospital for Women. Your gift and kindness will help babies like Bowie and families that go through the challenge and journey of premature birth.
