Mount Everest Base Camp Trek
Friday 14th AprMy name is Caroline and I am taking part in a trek to Base Camp Everest with MCRF & The Royal Hospital for Women. I am joining this challenge with my amazing, inspirational friend Martine Dines who has received her own incredible care from the hospital.
All funds raised from the 2023 Everest Base Camp Trek will go towards funding the WHEAT Trial currently being undertaken in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at The Royal.
WHEAT stands for WithHolding or continuing Enteral feeds Around blood Transfusion and aims to prevent necrotising enterocolitis (NEC) in preterm infants born before 30 weeks. Necrotising Enterocolitis (NEC) is a neonatal disease associated with high risks of death and disability.
Every donation, no matter how big or small will get us one step closer to preventing this devastating disease in premature babies at The Royal and beyond.

I am dedicating this trek to my Mam, while raising funds for this amazing charity.
A couple of months ago we suddenly lost our beautiful Mam.
My Mam had a smile so infectious that she would light up any room, with the gift of the gab, the kindest soul, and such a generous heart. She was the life and soul of every room she walked into and left an impression on every person she ever met.
What better way to honour my Mam than doing the things she loved, walking, talking and helping people (If she heard me now saying I’m climbing to Base Camp Everest, she would say that’s taking things to another level of walking )!
