I'm fundraising for The Royal Hospital for Women Foundation
Dear Family & Friends,On Sunday 20th October 2024, our lives as we knew it changed forever.
After a relatively straight forward first trimester, the second trimster was to be anything but straight forward. At our routine check-up at 23 weeks, our Obstetrician noticed Meg had high blood pressure and asked us to monitor it. Over the course of that weekend, it spiked consistently and we were advised to come to hospital for monitoring.
In the following days, Meg developed (very) early onset preeclampsia (1 in 133 chance of developing it so early) and there was a risk we could lose the baby if we delivered, given how early on in the pregnancy we were at that time (23 weeks). In the following couple of weeks, Meg stayed in hospital and fought to hell and back to stay pregnant and give our baby the best chance of survival. She is truly one of the strongest women I have ever met!
At the start of w/c 4th November, all of the medical teams were on the same page that delivery was imminent and that both the baby and mother were in good stable condition to do so without any further risk to Meg or the baby. We accepted and agreed to deliver. Miraculously, Megan and I are delighted to confirm the safe delivery of our baby girl at 11:27am on Tuesday 5th November 2024.
During our time in the NICU, we were shocked to discover that nearly all of the specialist equipment in the unit was donated. Without this equipment, and the generosity of donors, Mali might not be here with us today.
Please take the time to watch this short video which was beautifully crafted by the Royal media team to help tell our story: https://youtu.be/l2eYsVehBFY

Jordan & Megan
