JACK SAMUEL BURKE WAS BORN ON MAY 14, 2019 JUST AFTER 6 PM AT 36 WEEKS.
Weekly visits to the hospital, endless appointments with surgeons, doctors, specialists and radiographers prior to Jack’s birth got us a little closer to what we should expect when he was born, but until he arrived, we only had high hopes that he would be born happy and healthy, when in reality we had no idea what was to come.
What we did get on May 14 was the trifecta of issues. Issues however, fixable with patience and time. We are the lucky ones.
What we also got on May 14 was a crash course into what life in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at The Royal Women’s Hospital in Randwick, Sydney was like.
What started out as scary and foreign quickly shifted to calming, confidence and our new norm.
Surgeons, doctors, nurses, administrators, social workers, fellow parents….even the cleaners, all made us feel welcome and at ease in a situation we would never wish upon anyone.
Life got put on hold. Priorities changed. Overwhelming feelings of gratitude took over.
So much so that we started thinking about what we could do (albeit small) to help give back and do something.
The result is The Jack Raffle.
A call-out to friends, colleagues, brands, artists and individuals we work with in our professional lives and their overwhelming generous donations of support.
Jack has since moved across to the Children’s Intensive Care Unit and is on the long road to being mended. But we will forever be grateful for the love, care, empathy and understanding the NICU showed the Burke family for the first 54 days of Jack’s life.
We now invite you to join in our fundraising effort by buying a few tickets, sharing this page with your extended network, or even donating what you can to such an incredibly worthy cause.
Until you get to experience a situation like the one we are facing, you will never quite understand how lucky we are to have the ability to be supported by such a brilliant facility as the NICU at The Royal Women’s Hospital in Randwick, Sydney.
With love and thanks,
Kieran, Skye, Marlowe and Jack Burke xxxx

The Newborn Intensive Care Unit provides around the clock care and monitoring for over 1,000 premature and critically ill babies each year. Currently over 70% of the equipment in the unit has been funded by donors.
The Jack Raffle will fund a transcutaneous monitor and video laryngoscope; this equipment will help care for extremely premature babies and babies who require surgical intervention.
The transcutaneous monitor is innovative and highly accurate technology providing continuous, non-invasive monitoring of a baby’s oxygen and carbon dioxide levels and pulse rate through sensors. The video laryngoscope enables video guided intubation for premature and critically-ill babies who require breathing support.
By supporting The Jack Raffle you will be a part of helping the NICU provide the best possible care to critically ill babies like Jack.
